Like most people who migrate to the U.S., I am motivated to do better and be better than the world I left behind. Until the year 2020, when I was disabled by an accident that injured my spinal cord. I went from self-sufficient and independent to totally dependent overnight. As a friend jokingly said to me “You walked in, and you were wheeled out.”
My disability turned my world upside down. Not accustomed to asking for help or being dependent, I had to learn to ask for the help I needed without losing sight of boundaries or allowing people to take advantage of the situation. It was also during the years of COVID so social contact was reduced, if not eliminated. As a result, I had to reach out to people around me for help, not my usual social network. That made things more difficult for me.
I spent 5 years undergoing medical procedures and doing physical therapy along with acupuncture to regain my independence. Once thought to be a long stretch, I am happy to say that I am independent once again. I still have physical limitations, and my stamina is nowhere near the past, so when it came to thinking about returning to work, I had to think differently. I can’t travel like I used to or sustain the pace of past years. I had to find a different way to share my knowledge fund. That’s why I created this platform. My Professional Experience
Launched, owned and managed a courier service for 10 years. Grew revenues to $500K in the first 3 years and $1MM within 7 years.
Climbed the corporate ladder at a Fortune 10 company in the tobacco industry. I earned multiple promotions, necessitating a relocation with each promotion, so i had the opportunity to learn numerous markets.
Learned the regulations of the Center for Medicare Solutions when prescription drugs were authorized to be subject to the oversight of Medicare. After being an independent agent, I joined the largest health insurance company to establish its presence in Houston, TX and surrounding area. Within 6 months, my jurisdiction became the top producing area for the company, generating an additional $28MM in revenues.
Founded, owned and managed a health insurance agency focused on the senior market. I recruited and trained agents in my hierarchy and became the preferred regional agency for one of the major insurance companies in the local market.
A sudden and unexpected life event led me to switch gears and deliver over 600 seminars nationwide on the topic of Sales & Use Tax compliance. Fascinated by its regulations, I remain a fastidious student of Nexus and inter-state commerce.
A spinal cord injury with a complete disability forced me to reinvent myself and think differently, which resulted in this website you’re navigating. Since I am no longer able to travel frequently, I thought I could still share my knowledge fund by building a library of courses where you can reference what you need when you need it.
